For Mac Users
*************

This is an information for Mac users. `cause I`ve got no Mac I`m really thankful, that Kerrie sent me following infos:

I'm playing Sudeki on a Mac in OS X Panther 10.3.8. You won't
understand about the vagaries of the Mac OS, but if any other Mac users
contact you about this, you'll be able to pass this info on to them.
I'm letting you know how to get past the Castle pool room spike bug on
a Mac, which may behave differently to the PC game with the spike bug.
This may depend on the specific hardware setup a player has, and
whether they have an Nvidia or ATI graphics chip (GPU). Or it may be
some other factor...

I usually play using the 'TR Level Player Carbon' (this runs in Mac OS
X and is a port of the version that runs in the classic Mac OS). When I
reached the pool room, I was unable to get past the 4 lever puzzle
without the spikes killing Lara at lever 3 (the bug described in the
walkthrough). It didn't matter how far I had come since saving, and the
spike bug hit even if I used a save from back in the garden before
diving through the narrow crack to enter the underwater maze and not
saving at all after that! And I *was* using the right levers ;-)

Then I remembered back to a weird Mac bug I saw in a custom level some
time back. In that case the level wouldn't play at all using the 'TR
Level Player Carbon'. However there is another way to play on a Mac, by
using the alternative classic version of the game, the 'Tomb Raider
Level Player', in Classic mode (Classic mode is a kind of simulator to
run older Mac software within OS X). So I used the classic 'Tomb Raider
Level Player' and got past that spike bug, no problems at all!

MORE - there is a second Mac bug in the pool room when using the 'TR
Level Player Carbon'! After raising those two pillars, when Lara jumps
from the higher pillar to the walkway across the pool, if the player is
using the Carbon Player she won't grab the edge of the walkway so can't
get to the key! The fix for this is again to use the classic Level
Player... (One thing, life with a Mac is never boring ;)

After getting past the bugs I can go back to using the Carbon Level
Player as the savegames are compatible both ways - I can switch between
the two versions of the game at will.

So if a Mac user hits the spike bug, give them this tip - instead of
using the 'TR Level Player Carbon' to play, use the 'Tomb Raider Level
Player'. Both these are included in the Mac install, but a lot of
people might throw away the one they don't use so may need to copy the
classic Player (and Setup!) from the Mac TRLE CD. IMPORTANT - when they
do switch between the two players, they also need to be sure that the
two versions of the Setup are in the right place as well! In the Mac
game both versions of the Players and Setups can be kept in the top
level of the TRLE at the same time as they have different names, and
the player can just use whichever one they need, and switch between
them as needed. Best to always use the Carbon Player in OS X unless
they find a problem, then to try again with the classic Level Player to
see if that fixes it!

If any Mac player finds this hard to understand you can give them my
website address as I've posted a note about switching between the
different Players when there's a problem -

And a last comment about the pool room - it actually isn't necessary to
raise that lower pillar to reach the higher one. If Lara is backed up
to the edge of the slope close beside the tall pillar so her left
shoulder is against the pillar corner, she can do a backflip then a
jump from the slope using the left arrow key to swing her to the
pillar. Not easy but get it right and she lands just on the corner of
the tall pillar, thus saving that section through the second room with
the 4 levers! I did it that way first as it seemed obvious to me, but
as I couldn't jump to the walkway I thought there was more to do so
went looking further and found that jump switch. But it was a bug with
the Mac Carbon Player...

Also a comment about the second garden, and the shootable door leading
to the tunnels. I had a bug there as well so I couldn't shoot the door.
When I found it I tried shooting it several times and it wouldn't
break, so I assumed it was opened with a switch. I spent a day looking
for the switch that didn't exist, then got the walkthrough when it was
released and found that the door was shootable. Next day I went back
and tried again and it worked. This time it both failed and worked in
the Carbon Player, but as it was on different days after booting the
Mac up again it may not have been the same Mac bug mentioned above that
time. I can't repeat the bug since so can't check to see if it would be
different in the classic Player... Like I said, Macs are never boring!
